Double B Outfitter Deer
Miles & Chris from Virginia, and Barry from North Carolina arrived in North Dakota on a very hot September day, the Weather stayed that way for their entire hunt, making goose hunting very difficult. Therfore they decided to try the pheasant preserve hunt which is only 15 miles from camp. The hunt was exciting with lots of great shooting and excellent eating when they were finished. Miles and Chris returned in November to have another round with the birds. This hunt they shot chucker partridge with the pheasant to increase the difficulty of the hunting. These hunts are always a mix of old and new stories, good memories with great friends.

Week 1
Joe and Roger from Minnesota arrived Thursday afternoon to a beautiful fall
day. Roger shot his 150 practice shots and Joe kept the camp in stitches with
stories and riddles. Two hunters from Mississppi were unable to make the trip to
North Dakota due to some unexpected business. We contacted Tony and his wife
Deborah from Minnesota about the available hunts and they arrived Sunday
afternoon to a 93 degree heat wave, the next day it was 40 degrees and a jacket
felt great. Joe shot a great buck the first day and was the only hunter to
connect on the first hunt.

Billy from Mississippi, Joe and Robert from Tennessee, and Mike from Louisiana arrived to a partly cloudy, cooler day for the second hunt. Billy shot his deer the second day. We spent that evening and part of the next day trying to find the deer but all efforts proved to be futile. Mike harvested his deer on the third day, it was a great eight point with 6 inch bases. Then it was Joe's turn to step up and he did, as he shot a buck on day four, a beautiful nine point. Well now it was Roberts turn on the last night as he harvested his buck with not much day light left. What a great way to end a deer hunt. Mike, Joe, and Billy shot their limit of ducks and Mike also shot his limit of geese during the week.

Week 3
Steve from Oregon, Luke from Minnesota, Jerry from Florida, and Steve from Mississippi arrived in camp to a sunny breezy afternoon. The weather quickly turned and was damp and misty all week. This did not stop the hunters from doing their thing. Steve from Oregon shot a 10 point on the second night and Luke shot a 16 point, and Steve shot an 11 point on night 3. Jerry must have had the worst guide (ME) as he just was not lucky enough to get a shot at a buck he liked. Steve and Luke shot some geese and ducks on their hunt also.

Week 4
Brian and Derwin from Mississippi and John and Sam from Texas arrived at hunting camp on a dreary breezy afternoon. the weather did not change the whole time they were at camp. We had a northeast wind with mist and fog every day which is a very rare wind direction for North Dakota at that time of year. The hunters went Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and no one saw a shooter buck, to say the least there was getting to be some talk about who was the jinx in camp. Monday afternoon was the lucky day as three of the hunters shot deer in a matter of 30 minutes. Sam started it off with his long bow and John and Brian with compounds not far behind. Guess who Derwin had for his guide. Derwin and Brian shot ducks and geese on there hunts as the weather was great for that.

Ralph, Vicki, Joe, Dustin, and RJ from Illinois and Tom from Nebraska arrived to camp on a breezy overcast sky. During the night and morning hours rain fell heavily, this kept all hunters in camp until the afternoon. Tom shot his buck first night out with Joe in blind to video. Great buck, Great shot Tom! Everyone hunted ducks Saturday morning with good success. The deer hunting got real tough, but Ralph finally got in a stand that produced an old buck with lots of mass and character on day four. This only leaves Vicki one day to get her deer, but being the determined hunter she is she gets it done shooting a good 8 point with very little light left on the last night. Joe, Tom, and Dustin shot more ducks and geese during the week to keep them busy.

Jodi, Weasel, and Keith of Georgia, and Ferguson of Arizona arrived in camp on a cloudy warm day, For that time of year there seemed to be a lot of pre rut activity. Jodi shot his deer early the second night, he was 21 inches inside with good mass. Keith shot his deer an hour later. Keith's deer had a real tall rack with long tines and good mass. Weasel shot his deer the third night, a real heavy, non typical type rack with long brown tines, some stickers, and good beams. Ferguson did not get a chance at a deer he wanted, but there is always next year.
